Please see the following statement from PETA Senior Vice President of Laboratory Investigations Kathy Guillermo regarding the dismissal of all charges against the members of Direct Action Everywhere who rescued dogs imprisoned by Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin:
The defendants should never have been charged for simply rescuing dogs from a terrible situation, and PETA is relieved that the court agrees. Ridglan Farms and other animal exploiters are terrified the public will see how beagles and other animals suffer before they’re sold to laboratories to be tormented and killed in experiments because they know that anyone with a heart would condemn it. At Ridglan, beagles lived in filth with untreated wounds and their feet were red and swollen from standing on wire floors. The entire animal experimentation industry is an abomination and should be shut down now.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to experiment on”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
