Nala, a service dog trained to assist Leigh, has visited Disney World more times than most people dream of. With over 50 visits to her name, Nala is a seasoned Disney veteran. “Nala and I have been to Disney more days than I can count,” Megan Leigh shared. “She has stepped foot (or paw) into a Disney park at least 50 separate times.”

During their latest visit, an extraordinary encounter unfolded that captured the hearts of many. As they wandered through the park, Nala spotted her favorite Disney character, Donald Duck. The moment was nothing short of magical. “As soon as Nala saw Donald, a crowd gathered, watching in amazement,” Leigh recounted.

Nala’s reaction was immediate and heartwarming. She trotted up to Donald Duck and refused to leave his side. She nestled close to him, soaking up the affection as he showered her with head scratches and gentle pats. Donald Duck, known for his expressive demeanor, even seemed to be moved by the encounter, at one point bringing his hands up to his mouth as if holding back tears.

“Nala did not want to leave Donald at all,” Leigh said with a smile. “She loves him a lot!”

Nala is not alone in her love for Disney World. Another service dog named Henry has had his share of magical moments in the park. Henry, who assists his owner Jessica Paulsen, has visited Disney World six times. While two of these visits were purely for enjoyment, the other four served a dual purpose: testing and improving Henry’s training as a service dog.

Paulsen, who lives with a condition called postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, has found Disney World to be an excellent environment for Henry’s development. “He’s become better and better with every visit,” Paulsen noted. She also takes these opportunities to educate curious visitors, especially children, about the important role of service dogs.

Henry’s adventures are well-documented, with photos of him posing with iconic Disney characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and standing proudly in front of the famous Disney World castle. One particularly memorable snapshot shows Henry in an adorable Dumbo costume, capturing the hearts of many.

For Paulsen, these visits are deeply emotional. “The show at the Magic Kingdom is probably what I look forward to the most because I get to sit there with my best friend laying on my lap and really appreciate what he has given me,” Paulsen said. “It probably sounds silly, but that show is all about following your dreams and having Henry gave me back the dreams I thought were lost forever. I always cry!”

Disney World’s commitment to inclusivity extends to its four-legged visitors as well. The park welcomes trained and leashed service dogs, even allowing them on select rides. To ensure their comfort, Disney World provides designated relief areas throughout the park and offers temporary kennels for service dogs waiting while their owners enjoy the attractions.
