While many rescue stories begin tragically, we have the pleasure of witnessing tales like this one that end beautifully. Two precious stray puppies, Demi and Dominic, huddled together in a deteriorating building. They just had one another in the cold world they were far too used to. Their bodies were bare, riddled with mange and secondary skin infections. But they still had hope and found solace in one another’s company. Thankfully, a kind person heard their whimpers and called a local rescue group. The volunteers raced over, eager to help.
Since the puppies had never been touched by humans, they stood back, weary of their intentions. Upon seeing the pups and their condition, the rescuers’ hearts broke in two. They understood what the dogs needed and tended to them right away. Once the puppies were safely in their care, they raced off to the Main Street Vet clinic.
The vet and staff evaluated Demi and Dominic and prescribed treatment. They were confident the dogs would heal with time, care, and patience. After their evaluation, the puppies were placed in a cage together. They huddled close, trembling from the unknown. While the puppies’ trepidation saddened the staff, they knew that everything would change for the better!
The dogs were then taken to a foster home where they could begin their recovery. They had never known a home before, and it took some time for them to get used to it. Within a few days, they had both adjusted really well. They especially took to the other resident dogs, who were happy to play with them. Each day was a celebration! The pups’ fur began growing back, and their demeanor was now of confidence and joy as if they were never traumatized, to begin with.
Soon, their appearance was unrecognizable! Demi and Dominic were cleared by the vet and could now find their forever family. Both puppies were officially ready for their new beginning and would be placed together as a bonded pair. Demi and Dominic had a rough start in life but are now thriving thanks to caring people.
