Kristoff was discovered tethered outside in the bitter cold, left to fend for himself in freezing temperatures for two days. Thankfully, a concerned citizen contacted the Humane Society’s hotline, prompting Animal Control Officers to intervene. When they arrived, they found Kristoff chained to the ground with a doghouse nearby, unable to escape the icy conditions. The thermometer read a frigid 17°F, and the ground was covered in ice. The officers brought him to safety, giving him the chance to experience warmth and care.

Kristoff arrived at the shelter in poor condition. The senior dog, estimated to be between 8 and 10 years old, was stiff, wobbly, and had difficulty standing. A veterinary examination revealed he was close to developing pneumonia, and without help, he wouldn’t have survived much longer in the cold. The staff acted quickly, providing him with a warm bath, antibiotics, and pain relief to aid in his recovery. Despite all he had endured, Kristoff’s gentle demeanor shone through. He nuzzled into the staff as they cared for him, winning over everyone with his sweet nature.

Kristoff is now undergoing treatment for chronic kidney disease. His vision and hearing are deteriorating which is common for senior dogs. The vet believes it’s possible he will eventually lose his sight entirely. Yet his spirit remains unbroken. The staff describes him as a “really sweet old man” who enjoys leisurely strolls, affection, and relaxing indoors. Kristoff has quickly become a favorite among the shelter team, who are determined to make his remaining years as comfortable and joyful as possible.

The next steps in Kristoff’s journey include finalizing his medical assessments and officially releasing him from his previous owner. Once that happens, he will be ready for adoption. The shelter is committed to finding him a loving home where he can enjoy his golden years surrounded by care and kindness.

A Fraudulent Vet’s Actions Lead to Heartbreaking Losses

He pretended to be a Veterinarian. It’s not a surprise to learn that at least one dog has already been confirmed dead as a result of his fraudulent veterinary work. On top of that, he kept multiple dogs locked up improperly without any food or water.

Kristoff will never be left in the cold again. Kristoff will finally have people around him who cherish him for the wonderful dog he is!
