The National Wildlife Refuge Association is seeking a passionate and community-focused Urban Community Engagement Specialist to support the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Urban Wildlife Conservation Program in the Northeast through our Urban Wildlife Refuge Program.
Based in Elizabeth, New Jersey, this full-time position will focus on building long-term relationships with communities in Elizabeth, NJ, Yonkers, NY, and surrounding areas. You’ll work alongside the Lenape National Wildlife Refuge Complex, which includes:
Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge (NJ)
Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge (NJ)
Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge (PA)
Shawangunk Grasslands National Wildlife Refuge (NY)
This position supports our Urban Program work in the Northeast Urban Wildlife Refuge Project, which connects urban communities with nearby refuges through partnerships, programming, and place-based conservation.
This role is ideal for communicators, organizers, and bridge-builders with a passion for wildlife and people.
