When extreme weather rolls in, we all take steps to stay safe. For one local weatherman in Arkansas, that also meant making sure his beloved cat was protected. During a recent outbreak of dangerous storms and tornadoes, TVH11’s meteorologist Nathan Scott made a heartwarming choice—he brought his cat, Cierra, with him to the studio.
The storms were heading toward his neighborhood in Little Rock, and Nathan didn’t want to leave her alone at home. Cierra, a mostly white calico cat with patches of color, was clearly more than just a pet—she was part of his family.
A Close Call with Nature

While on camera, Nathan held Cierra gently in his arms like a child. He explained, “When the tornado hit Little Rock, you know, it was only about a mile away, and I had her in the bathroom cuz I knew it was gonna be a bad day.” He went on to say, “When I saw that hook echo getting pretty close to my neighborhood, it was scary. The first thing I was thinking about was her.”
The intense weather began on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, and by Friday, the area was still struggling with heavy damage. There were strong winds, hail, tornadoes, and flooding that caused trees to fall and buildings to take damage. Many people lost power, and the mess left behind was everywhere. Emergency warnings for flash floods stayed in place through the weekend.
A Touching Reminder of Love

The storms didn’t just cause property damage—they hurt people too. According to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, 13 people were injured and tragically, a five-year-old child lost their life. Little Rock’s mayor, Frank Scott, Jr., shared that crews are working nonstop to clean up debris and remove trees. Flooded roads and highway closures still remain an issue as water levels slowly go down.
It’s hard enough for adults to deal with natural disasters. For pets, the fear may be even worse because they don’t understand what’s happening. Nathan’s decision to bring Cierra to work shows just how deeply he cares. As he held her securely in his arms, it was clear that she felt safe and loved.
