The air was thick with the scent of decay, and everywhere you looked, piles of trash stretched endlessly across the ground. In the middle of this harsh and unforgiving place, three small puppies struggled to survive. They wandered through the landfill searching for anything they could eat, often settling for scraps others had thrown away. With no clean water, they drank from dirty puddles just to stay alive. Mirna and her team from Alyarz Pet Club arrived at the landfill after hearing about abandoned dogs in the area. What they found was heartbreaking. Three puppies, weak and frightened, were trying to stay alive in conditions no animal should endure.
One of them, later named Alma, was in critical condition. Her face was painfully swollen, and every breath seemed like a struggle. She stayed close to her siblings, as if drawing strength from their presence, but it was clear she needed immediate help.
The team moved quickly. Alma was rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic while the other two puppies were brought to safety. For the first time, they were given clean water, proper food, and a quiet place to rest.
A Second Chance Begins
At the clinic, Alma received urgent care. Her condition required close attention, but slowly, signs of recovery began to appear. The swelling eased, her breathing steadied, and her eyes began to show curiosity rather than fear.
Back at the shelter, the transformation of all three puppies was nothing short of remarkable. Once timid and unsure, they began to play with each other. Their tails wagged freely. They approached humans with cautious trust that soon turned into affection.
It was as if they were discovering, for the first time, what it meant to feel safe.
Mirna and her team did not stop at rescue. Knowing that the landfill had become a dumping ground for unwanted animals, they returned with a mission. For 16 long hours, they cleaned the entire area. Piece by piece, they removed hazards, hoping to create a safer environment for any stray animals still wandering there.

As the puppies grew stronger, their personalities began to shine. Alma, once fighting for every breath, became playful and affectionate. Alfie showed a gentle and loving nature. Their bond with humans deepened each day.

Alfie and Alma found loving families in France. In their new homes, they were surrounded by warmth, care, and attention. The team continues to receive weekly updates, watching with pride as the puppies thrive in environments filled with love.

The third puppy still waits at the shelter, hopeful and ready for a family of their own. While the wait continues, they are safe, cared for, and surrounded by people who refuse to give up on them.
