Life can change in the blink of an eye– sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. A man who adored his dog Hero ended up on the streets after falling on hard times. The man and his dog often struggled to eat and find adequate shelter. Despite these hardships, the man loved Hero deeply. Knowing he couldn’t do right by him, he made the selfless decision to surrender Hero so the beloved dog could find a better life. Hero was relinquished to a shelter in California where a rescue group stepped in.
The rescue group transports pets from overcrowded shelters to British Columbia to give the animals the best chance at finding a new home. Hero was chosen to go with the rescue on the next trip up North. A wonderful woman, Sarah, and her husband heard about Hero and went to go meet him once he arrived. Sarah immediately knew she wanted Hero but wanted her husband to decide for himself. As soon as her husband started to say he would love to adopt Hero, Sarah chimed in and said she felt the same way!
Hero had found his forever family, and his future looked bright! He went home with his new parents, and the couple was delighted with him. He was this instant snuggle bug with a wonderful disposition.
Hero is a bit lazy and would rather spend his days snuggled up with his mom and dad than go for a long walk. In fact, he seems overwhelmed by the outdoors, and his parents believe it’s likely because he lived outside all those years.
Hero also has his own safe place in his new home. If he gets scared, he goes into the bathroom and sits on the bath mat until his fears subside. He even drags his ‘comfort’ mat over to his mom when she seems distressed. The dog is very intune to his family’s emotions.
Thanks to his selfless owner, Hero ended up where he belongs. We are very grateful for this happy ending. To watch Hero’s story, click the video below.
