Kobe described Darcie as a “chatterbox” and shared with Newsweek via email the profound change in Darcie’s behavior. “When we first got her, she wouldn’t play, run, bark, or even eat on her own,” Kobe explained. “She was so shy, unsure, and scared. But with time, love, and patience, we’ve watched her blossom.”
Adapting to her new surroundings wasn’t easy for Darcie, especially with her initial fear of loud noises. However, as her confidence grew, so did her personality. Kobe also shared how clever Darcie is, noting that she even learned English. “Her recall could use some work since she’s easily distracted by squirrels,” Kobe added with a laugh. “But she’s the softest, cuddliest dog, and she trusts us completely.”
For the Cheung family, Darcie has become an indispensable part of their lives. “We’re absolutely wrapped around her little paws,” Kobe said. “We never imagined we could love a rescue dog as much as one raised from a puppy, but Darcie has changed our perspective entirely.”
Reflecting on Darcie’s past, Kobe expressed mixed emotions. “It’s heartbreaking to think about the tough years she went through, but we’re committed to giving her the best life now.” The overwhelming support from TikTok users echoed this sentiment. “She finally feels safe enough to express herself after being silenced for so long,” commented one user, while another added, “Thank you for giving her the home she deserves.”
