School Bus Surprise Reveals Which Child the Family Dog Loves Most
At Courtney’s home in Maryland, the after school routine usually unfolds with excitement as the family’s rescue dog, Maisy, eagerly waits for the children to return. But a recent moment captured on the family’s home camera revealed something both hilarious and familiar to pet owners everywhere. When the school bus pulled up and the children stepped off, Maisy sprinted toward them with her tail wagging furiously. Yet instead of greeting the daughter, who walked off the bus first with open arms, Maisy darted right around her and ran straight to the son, her clear favorite.
The video, posted to TikTok on November 22, quickly went viral. In it, Maisy barrels past the daughter without hesitation, leaping toward the boy for an enthusiastic reunion. The daughter, momentarily bypassed, watches as her brother kneels and hugs the overjoyed dog. Courtney said she and her husband laughed when they saw the footage, admitting Maisy’s attachment to their son has been strong since the day they brought her home.
Courtney explained that her son fell in love with Maisy immediately, even drawing her as his best friend in a school assignment. While TikTok users worried the daughter might have been hurt by the moment, Courtney clarified that she was not upset at all. Instead, she was more curious where Maisy had suddenly run and surprised the dog was allowed in the front yard at that moment. Their daughter still snuggles and plays with Maisy often, but she is naturally more of a cat lover. After losing their senior cat in September, the family has been considering adopting a new feline friend just for her.
Maisy’s behavior is actually common. According to canine behavior research, dogs often form their strongest bond with the person who provides the most positive experiences, such as play, comfort, feeding, or training. They may show this bond through excited greetings, following closely, or seeking out that person when overwhelmed. Even though the daughter was bypassed in this viral clip, the family says there are no hard feelings at all. Their other dog is deeply devoted to her, giving her plenty of affection in return.
