On March 6, a rescue van left Bosque Animal Rescue Kennels (BARK) in Clifton, Texas, carrying dogs who had already survived more than any animal ever should. Each mile traveled was a step away from overcrowded shelters and the heartbreak they’ve known, and a step closer to safety, healing, and hope.
Thanks to the incredible support of iHeartDogs’ Hero VIP Club members, eight dogs made the life-changing journey to Colorado, where they were welcomed by Karl’s K9 Krew and given the fresh start they deserve.
Meet the Colorado Crew!
Willa
Ramero
Ginger & Gene
Merlot
Mabel
and Lilly & Blossom!
These brave pups all made the journey north to Colorado. Each one carrying a story of survival and resilience.
Willa’s Story: From Survival to Strength
Willa was found outside Valley Mills, Texas, in heartbreaking condition. She was emaciated, injured, and had a deep wound exposing bone in her leg. Despite everything, she never stopped wagging her tail.
Rushed to the vet and cared for by a devoted foster, Willa slowly began to heal. With time, love, and proper medical care, she transformed.
Today, her wound has healed beautifully, she’s gained weight, and her playful puppy spirit is back. Now, she’s heading to Colorado, ready to begin again, this time, surrounded by love.
Ramero’s Story: A Community That Never Gave Up
When Ramero was found wandering the streets of Walnut Springs, Texas, he was dangerously underweight with a body condition score of just 2 out of 9, meaning she was emaciated. A caring family stepped in to save him, and they’ve continued to follow his journey every step of the way. Rescuers were so touched by the compassion they showed that they named Ramero after the family surname.
Today, Ramero is thriving in his Colorado foster home. He’s already embracing the good life, especially cozy moments on the couch.
Mabel’s Story: Rescued From the Cold
During one of the coldest stretches of winter, Mabel was found running loose in downtown Clifton, Texas. Ice had frozen to her fur, and her small body was stiff from exposure. By the time she was secured, she was dangerously cold, but still incredibly gentle and trusting.
Thanks to quick action and dedicated care, Mabel survived what could have been a tragic ending. Now, she’s safe and sound in Colorado, where a warm home and a brighter future await.
