We have seen an increase in hoarding situations, and have had to rescue multiple cats and kittens from desperate and appalling conditions. The cats who come from these heartbreaking situations are often very shut down, with malnutrition, fleas and skin issues, amongst other problems. They are often very anxious and sometimes semi-feral in their presentation.  We rescued 12 kittens from one property, including Bonnie and Bart.   Bonnie was the worst affected kitten of the 12. She had Conjunctivitis, her eyes were badly infected. She was very thin, and her skin was itchy and inflamed. She seemed to be in a lot of pain.

Bonnie was prescribed treatment to help her fight the infection. She was given antibiotics and eye drops. Her eyes were also bathed regularly with salt and water.  She also needed medication for her respiratory health.   We tackled Bonnie’s malnutrition, and carefully built her weight up.

This lovely girl was a real battler, and with a lot of nursing, tender loving care, patience, and excellent medical treatment, she gradually began to improve.

Bonnie’s playful personality began to shine through, with her and her brother Bart becoming the affectionate, happy kittens we always knew they could be.

We were delighted when Bonnie and Bart caught the eye of one of our supporters, and they went off to their forever loving home.
