Brooke and Clifford survived cruelty that no animal should ever experience. Thousands of miles from the specialized care they desperately needed, these two disabled dogs faced a long and uncertain journey before they could begin rebuilding their lives.
But they were not alone.
With help from iHeartDogs Hero VIP Club members and other compassionate supporters, Brooke and Clifford received the funding needed for their prosthetic limbs, transportation from Egypt to the United States, and specialized rehabilitation at The Unstoppable Ranch. Today, both dogs are safely home and taking courageous steps toward a future filled with comfort, freedom, and love.
Two Dogs Who Refused to Give Up
Brooke was still a puppy when someone reportedly threw her in front of a moving train in Egypt. She survived, but the devastating injuries cost her two legs and left her with ongoing physical challenges.
Clifford also endured deliberate cruelty. All four of his legs were mutilated, along with his ears and tail. Despite the pain and betrayal he experienced, Clifford remained gentle, trusting, and determined to live.
Their bodies carried permanent reminders of what had happened to them, but their spirits remained remarkably strong. What they needed next was a safe place to heal and people willing to believe that their lives were worth fighting for.
Hero VIP Club Members Helped Build a Bridge to Safety
Through the iHeartDogs Steps of Hope Project, Hero VIP Club members and other supporters rallied around Brooke and Clifford. Their generosity helped fully fund the dogs’ prosthetic limbs and supported the many other pieces required to bring them to safety, including international transportation, medical clearance, rehabilitation, medication, supplements, physical therapy, and ongoing care.
The destination waiting for them was The Unstoppable Ranch in Temecula, California. Created to meet the needs of disabled and mobility-challenged dogs, the Ranch offered exactly what Brooke and Clifford needed: experienced care, adaptive equipment, rehabilitation, patience, and a loving forever home.
After everything they had survived, the final distance between the dogs and their new lives spanned thousands of miles.
Hero VIP Club members helped them cross it.
Brooke and Clifford Finally Reach America
On July 11, Brooke and Clifford left Egypt to begin their long-awaited journey to the United States. Two days later, on July 13, they arrived safely at Los Angeles International Airport.
It was the end of one exhausting journey and the beginning of an entirely new one.
Instead of facing an uncertain future on the streets of Egypt, Brooke and Clifford were welcomed into a community devoted to helping disabled dogs thrive. They had finally reached The Unstoppable Ranch, where they could begin adjusting to their surroundings and preparing for the prosthetic limbs that would give them new ways to move.
By mid-July, both dogs had been cast for their custom prosthetics. Each cast would help specialists create limbs designed around the individual dog’s body, needs, and mobility challenges.
After enduring so much, Brooke and Clifford were finally receiving care focused not merely on helping them survive, but on helping them live fully.
Brooke Takes Her First Brave Step
On August 21, The Unstoppable Dogs shared an emotional update: Brooke had received her first prosthetic leg and was beginning to learn how to use it.
Her rear prosthetic would come later, and there was still a great deal of work ahead. Wearing a prosthesis requires more than attaching a new limb. Brooke would need time to build strength, develop balance, become comfortable with the device, and learn a completely new way of moving.
Still, that first leg represented something much larger. It was the beginning of Brooke reclaiming the freedom that cruelty had tried to take from her.
Every uncertain movement was progress. Every time she tried again was a victory. With experienced caregivers beside her and an entire community cheering her on, Brooke had begun taking the first brave steps into her new life.
Clifford Receives Four New Legs
Just ten days later, on August 31, another extraordinary update arrived: Clifford had received all four of his prosthetic legs.
Learning to walk with one prosthesis can be challenging. Clifford must learn to trust and coordinate four of them. His rehabilitation will require tremendous patience, courage, repetition, and support. There will be difficult days and hesitant steps, but there will also be small breakthroughs that mean everything.
For the first time, Clifford has the chance to walk without placing pressure on the painful remains of his injured limbs. His new legs offer the possibility of greater comfort, independence, and freedom as he learns how to navigate the world in an entirely different way.
The people who hurt Clifford took parts of all four legs, but they did not take away his desire to move forward. Now he has the equipment, care, and loving home he needs to do exactly that.
Their Success Belongs to Every Hero Who Helped
Brooke and Clifford’s story did not change because of one single moment. It changed through a series of compassionate choices.
Someone chose to rescue them. Supporters chose to believe their disabilities did not make their lives less valuable. Hero VIP Club members helped fund the journey and specialized care that once seemed impossibly far away. The team at The Unstoppable Ranch chose to give them a permanent home where their needs would be understood and their progress celebrated.
Because of those choices, Brooke and Clifford are no longer waiting in Egypt for help to arrive. They are safe in California, surrounded by dogs and people who understand what it means to adapt, persevere, and keep moving forward.
Clifford and Brooke enjoy the simple pleasure of a roll in the grass at Unstoppable Ranch.
Learning to use their prosthetics will take time, and their physical and emotional healing will continue. But now they can face every challenge from a place of safety, with a family committed to standing beside them.
To every iHeartDogs Hero VIP Club member who helped make this possible, thank you. You gave two extraordinary survivors more than prosthetic legs. You helped give them comfort, freedom, belonging, and the chance to become truly unstoppable.
Help Build the Future of The Unstoppable Ranch
Brooke and Clifford have found their forever home, but the work of creating a sanctuary designed for them and other disabled dogs continues.
iHeartDogs and The Unstoppable Ranch are now working together to fund 1,500 personalized ceramic tile plaques. Each plaque will be permanently displayed on the Ranch’s Fence of Dreams and can honor a beloved pet who has passed, celebrate an animal currently in your life, recognize someone who champions animal welfare, or carry a personal message of encouragement.
Proceeds from the campaign will help build an accessible play yard with wheelchair-friendly ramps, soft surfaces, and play structures designed for dogs with different mobility needs. If enough funding is raised, support will also help make the Ranch’s future barn possible, creating additional accessible space for the dogs, community programs, and meaningful connections between animals and people.
For $59.99, you can create a personalized 4-by-4-inch ceramic tile that will become a permanent part of the sanctuary Brooke, Clifford, and the other Unstoppable Dogs call home. Those who do not want to purchase a plaque can also make a direct donation.
