During a special Dodo Dream Date celebrating their new film, “Practical Magic 2,” the longtime friends wore black and brought witch hats to match the spooky theme. Yet the playful atmosphere became unexpectedly tender when they met Pawla, a 4-month-old black kitten, and Tagliatelle, a 3-month-old puppy. Within moments, the actresses were cuddling their furry dates and discovering just how difficult saying goodbye might eventually become.
Pawla is part of a bonded pair, while young Tagliatelle brought plenty of puppy sweetness to the gathering. “Black animals have a much harder time being adopted from the shelters,” Bullock said in a video for The Dodo. She added that outdated suspicions can contribute to the problem and affectionately described her own two black cats as “house panthers.”
A Spooky Game Turns Sweet
To keep the “Practical Magic” spirit alive, the group played a mystery hat game. Witch hats concealed little surprises, including treats, toys, and conversation prompts for Bullock and Kidman to discover.
One conversation took the spooky theme a little further when Bullock recalled three occasions when she believed she had seen a ghost. Tagliatelle appeared slightly unsettled by all the ghost talk, prompting Bullock to check on her tiny companion.
“How was that story? Was that too much?” she asked.
The moment added a playful touch to a date that was becoming increasingly affectionate. Before long, both actresses were sharing stories about their own rescue pets while making sure Pawla and Tagliatelle received plenty of toys, treats, and cuddles. Bullock even admitted that, between the two friends, she would be the one most likely to cancel plans simply to stay home with her animals. “We will be checking in because we are now, unfortunately, a wee bit bonded,” Bullock said.
