The 2022 Beijing Olympics will be the last for snowboarder and three-time gold medalist Shaun White. The athlete made a TikTok video a few weeks before the big event to encourage his fans to ask him questions about the Olympics.
While recording video replies to some of the numerous questions he received, White got a little distracted. Fans lost it when he uploaded a “blooper” that was simply too good not to share.
In this TikTok, White had already started recording his video reply to a question about his retirement when he suddenly stopped talking as he realized the background noise was too distracting. He then turned the camera to show the source of the sound: his girlfriend, actress Nina Dobrev, doing baby talk to her dog Maverick.
The Vampire Diaries star held little Maverick on the couch as the dog licked her face. “Oh hi,” Dobrev repeatedly gushed to her little dog as White chuckled.
With a “yeah, that happens sometimes” shrug, White trained the camera back on himself before finally answering: “Yeah, it’ll be my last Olympics.”
In February’s Olympics in Beijing, White will officially be the oldest U.S. halfpipe rider to compete in the history of the Winter Games at 35 years old.

Maverick’s Parents Adore Her
Nina Dobrev adopted Maverick as a puppy in 2017, two years before she and White started dating. On Valentine’s Day, the date Dobrev declared to be her rescue dog’s birthday, she gushed about their special relationship:
“It’s so fitting that I find a love puppy, born on Feb 14th (let’s be real, she’s a rescue. I have no idea when she was born. But the shelter said she was 10 weeks old when I got her, which would have been around the second week of February so I obviously chose FEBRUARY 14TH … duh.) Saint Valentine himself brought her to me in a time of need and she has fulfilled, made my life greater and more meaningful than I ever could have imagined.”
In addition to posting photos of Maverick on her Instagram all the time, Dobrev also made the pup her own account. @Mrs.Maverick has 470,000 followers.
It’s clear Dobrev loves her dog more than anything. Fortunately, when Dobrev met White in 2019, he earned Maverick’s approval too.
After dating for a while, White and Dobrev moved in together at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Even though Maverick’s mom is a famous actress and her dad is an Olympic Gold medalist, she still seems to be the center of attention.
