Love is all around us– we just have to look for it! Good friends, relatives, and, of course, couples celebrate their love daily. Whether it’s a phone call, text message, or an in-person snuggle and smooch, we express our devotion in our own way. This holds true for the animal kingdom as well. In this adorable tale, a rooster named Steve is over the moon for his chicken-wife Margaret. Their connection is so deep that when separated, Steve aches to be reunited with his soulmate.

In the video below, Steve wakes up his mom, Temara (which happens every morning). With his “COCK-A-DOODLE-DOOs,” he sticks his little face close to Mom to remind her that it’s time to go see Margaret. Temara gets out of bed, heads downstairs with Steve, and prepares her morning coffee. Steve is not having it. She’s taking way too long! He expresses his impatience by gently pecking at her head.

Temara gives in and takes Steve into the yard. You have never seen an animal run this fast in your life! Steve sprints over to the beautifully decorated chicken coop, looks into the window to check if Margaret is awake and safe, and then scurries to the front door. Mom can’t open it fast enough! Steve’s hen-wife pops her little head out and they touch beaks. They then run off together like a married couple riding off into the sunset.

There’s a heartwarming backstory explaining why Steve is so attached to Margaret as well. Margaret was attacked by another bird and was in critical condition when Temara adopted her from a rescue group. Steve helped his mom nurse her back to health. The story continues and can’t be missed. Play the video below to see the love these two chickens share. The footage is so uplifting and joyful. Wait until you see ‘husband and wife’ express their undying love.
