RKD Group—a marketing and fundraising services provider for nonprofit organizations—became the latest company to commit to leaving pugs, bulldogs, and other breathing-impaired breeds (BIB) of dogs out of its future ads, joining the Ad Council, Ogilvy, Wieden + Kennedy, Wunderman Thompson, and others! BIBs are deliberately bred to have distorted and restricted airways, and millions of homeless dogs are desperately waiting in shelters or struggling to survive on the streets—so bringing more dogs, especially BIBs, into the world is unethical and irresponsible. RKD’s CEO thanked PETA for the “thoughtful note and proactive outreach.” Everyone can take action for these suffering dogs today by urging the University of Georgia to stop popularizing unhealthy breeds like its mascot, an English bulldog.
