While patrolling Northeast Houston, a volunteer from Corridor Rescue spotted a small puppy trotting down the street with a damp newspaper clutched in his mouth. The little tan dog walked with a proud gait, clearly delighted with his makeshift “toy.” Despite his cheerful demeanor, it was evident that he had been struggling to survive on the streets. The volunteer quickly took a video of the pup, then decided to scoop him up, leaving the soggy newspaper behind.
Page Moore, the president of Corridor Rescue, told The Dodo, “The newspaper was soggy and smelly, but he was soon given plenty of new toys to enjoy.” The puppy, soon named Bingo, underwent a veterinary checkup that revealed he weighed just 11 pounds and was infested with parasites. He was also suffering from sarcoptic mange and a secondary bacterial skin infection from constant scratching, as well as dehydration. “He tested positive for Parvo,” Moore added, “but fortunately, he had a mild case and recovered quickly with treatment.”
Initially, Bingo was nervous in his new surroundings at the rescue. However, as his health began to improve, his playful and spirited personality started to shine through. “He became a spunky little fella!” Moore shared. “Bold in spirit and eager for company, young Bingo was as bright and vibrant as a puppy can get. He loved interacting with the staff and volunteers and enjoyed all of his toys.”
Within the first month, Bingo gained 8 pounds and was soon deemed healthy and ready for adoption. His journey to find a forever home did not take long. Just three months after being rescued, he caught the eye of a family who saw his adoption profile online.
Bingo’s new mom, who lived in Saint Paul, Minnesota, immediately fell in love with the playful pup. She submitted an adoption application, and on August 2nd, Bingo left Texas to start a new life with a mom and three children. His new family decided to rename him Chance, symbolizing his fresh start and the new life ahead of him.
Now, Chance is thriving in his new home, and his love for playing continues. Chance remains as energetic and playful as ever, proving that even the simplest things can bring joy if you have the right spirit. To see the pup’s rescue and happily ever after, click on the TikTok video posted below.

@corridor.rescue Bingo has made his way home! After braving the Houston streets with nothing but a newspaper, our little paper boy won the hearts of so many people. We watched Bingo recover from both mange and Parvo, play with a real toy for the first time, and participate in his first puppy playgroup. We watched his ears grow to match his big personality and showed him what it meant to be loved. As application after application rolled in, for one reason or another, it never quite worked out between Bingo and his potential adopters. Some wanted younger, some wanted larger, one wanted him to live outdoors, and others still were turned away by his presumed breed. Bingo, who now goes by Chance, has truly been given his second chance by his new mom in Minnesota. She was not turned away by his age, appearance, breed, or past but rather drawn to his need for a loving home. Congratulations to Bingo and thank you to his new mom for showing him the life that he has always deserved! #streetdogrescue #fromthestreetstothesheets #houston #dogrescue #fosteringsaveslives #corridorrescue #fyp #activities #adoptdontshop #texas #adoptionjourney #transformation ♬ original sound – Corridor Rescue Inc.
