Willow was admitted with 4 other horses and ponies. Unfortunately, all were in quite poor condition, having not seen a dentist or a farrier for years. Willow’s eye was an immediate concern to us, as it looked to have ruptured. Her owner advised that years ago she had a blackthorn in her eye, but as it had never seemed to of bothered her it hadn’t been checked out. We got our vet to look at it and they were in no doubt that Willow would have been in pain. The only option was to remove her eye, to ensure she was pain free.
Having lived without sight in her ruptured eye for years, living with one eye was nothing new for Willow. She took the surgery in her stride, and even removed her own bandage! Following the surgery there was an instant change in Willow, she was calmer and happier to be handled than preciously.
After lots of extra care and monitoring, Willow’s stitches were removed. The vet was then happy for her to be introduced to our horses and ponies, where she could run around, pain free.
Willow’s surgery was only possible because of you. Your support provided the veterinary care she needed to live pain free. You have transformed her life.
