Jacob was rejected by his mum as a lamb, he was in a field with the sheep, but his mum wasn’t feeding him well he seemed to be having trouble getting around and could be blind. A concerned member of the public noticed him and approached the farmer. He agreed and felt sorry for Jacob due to the blindness so said they could take him and rear him if they wanted. They kept him for a few weeks before reaching out to us to find him a more permanent home with other sheep. We know that if he hadn’t been rescued by the concerned couple, he would not have survived. They managed well rearing him, but he needed more space when he grew up and to be around other sheep.
After being with us for a time, his sight appeared to be improving, he didn’t have good sight but it was considered to be resolved. However, after 7 years he slowly lost his sight but having lived with us all his life, he still found his way around.
Jacob a sweet, gentle and kind boy. He enjoyed being around people, would greet you as you arrived for work and often followed you around hoping to get some head scratches. He was with us for 13 years, and had made many sheep friends – he just loved the simple life.
After a move to our Wales rescue Jacob along his sheep friends Larry and Ned, and Skye the pig were adopted in 2024 to a wonderful family. Jacob truly found his happily ever after. He was doted on every single day and became a much-loved member of the family, he would sit with his human ‘mum’ every day while she had her morning coffee, he was especially adored by the children. Jacob loved the gentle, contented life he was given.
In early 2026 Jacob had a fall, being an elderly gentleman, he struggled to get back to his feet. A vet was called immediately and pain relief was given, but despite everyone’s best efforts, Jacob did not recover. Our beloved Jacob passed away.
We would like to say the biggest thank you his family for opening their hearts and home to Jacob and for loving him so deeply. He will be incredibly missed by them and us.
Good Night God Bless our sweet boy ❤️
You stole our hearts from the first moment we met you.
At 15 you were the old man of our little flock but definitely the boss.
Who will try to pinch my coffee in the mornings and
stick their nose in my pockets looking for snacks now?
We will miss you so much Jacob. Rest easy sweet boy
